FAQ

Key things to know about River Oaks Retreat

FAQ About Your Visit

Everything from check-in times to key points about visiting a working farm.

What are the check in and check out times for guests?

The check-in time for all accommodation  is 3pm. The check-out time is 11am unless extended by prior arrangement with River Oaks Retreat.

Are there power sockets in the Jungle Den, Marrakesh, and RIVER HAVEN?

Yes, with the power being that of solar.

Can you create packages for a personal touch?

Yes, we can. We have massage therapists, yoga and chefs available.  This will need to be done through the owner and in advance as we need to organise with outside companies. Please head to our contact section on this page to send us a message.

Will the power available power a hair dryer or straighteners?

Sorry, no. The solar power of 12V is fine to charge a small device like a phone, but will not power something like a hair dryer or set of straighteners, or cooking equipment (e.g. rice cookers, air fryers).

Are teas and coffee provided for guests in the accommodation?

Yes, along with homemade muesli. Please do bring your own supplies though too.

Is there a taxi service close by?

Yes, there is Kiwi Kabs, which is based in Katitkati.

Is there parking next to the accommodation?

Yes, there is parking next to all the accommodation options.

Are there any hazards at the farm?

It is a working farm with livestock and machinery. Please do not approach the animals, enter their paddocks, or touch the (electric) fencing. Another hazard is the river. Please note that water safety rules should always be observed, and that guests swim at their own risk.

Are guests allowed to have visitors?

On a pre-approved basis (please contact us to discuss this, thank you). A day charge may apply.

Do you provide catering for guests?

We can, yes! Please check out what’s possible by heading to the platter and meal part of our homepage and then get in touch with any questions you have. Looking to head out for a meal or a bite to eat? We’ve put together a selection of local dining options for you.

Can guests swim in the river?

Guests can swim in the river (on a calm, summer’s day it can be divine). Please note that water safety rules should always be observed, and that guests swim at their own risk. Please be aware of the rocks and that we advise guests to be aware of the risk of slipping.

Is there a bbq?

Yes, this is an added service under the Essential Glamping Package.

Are there things to do nearby?

Good question! A great place to start is to head to our Things to Do in Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty article.
